Workshop Notes

A workshop is not a fixed place; it's something that evolves over time.

The tables move, tools multiply.
Some wear out, some find their place months later.
Order is broken to be re-established every day.

These photos do not show a "final state" but rather the present moment of the Thorn Mill workshop.

While a lathe is running in one corner, a half-finished piece waits on another table.
Some of the tools hanging on the wall are used daily, while others await that critical moment.

The development of the workshop is not about growing or speeding up.
It's about being more precise.

Which task is done where,
which tool is needed when,
at what stage should one stop.

These are things learned over time.

Every mark here,
every chip,
every mess and every tidying up,
quietly seeps into the objects produced.

That's why nothing at Thorn Mill feels "mass-produced."
We're not after industrial production, but rather creating what is meaningful.

Even today, this workshop is still changing.
It will probably be a bit different tomorrow.
But one thing will not change:

Not rushing the work.
